A lot identifier links a particular material to the product record, documentation, and internal laboratory notes.

What to record

Record the product name, lot or batch number, date received, quantity, storage location, and the document or report associated with the material.

Why exact matching matters

A document for one lot should not be treated as a document for another lot. If the label and report do not match, ask for clarification before using the material in a research workflow.
